Roofing · Observed snow

Estimate measured snow weight—never roof capacity.

Combine simple roof geometry with an observed average snow depth and representative measured density. The result describes the entered snow, not what a roof can safely support.

Transparent calculation

Sloped area × depth × measured density.

The pitch factor converts horizontal run to sloped run. Sloped roof area multiplied by average depth gives volume; volume multiplied by the density you enter gives weight.

This deliberately does not calculate code snow loads or structural capacity. Those require location-specific standards, exposure and thermal factors, drifting analysis, roof geometry, construction records, condition assessment, and qualified engineering judgment.
